Surprised by joy

“Surprised by joy” is the title of a poem by Wordsworth and also of a book by C.S. Lewis. I use the phrase in a different context from them.

The young lady in the photos is my wife Xinia (pronounced sin-ee-a), the person who, in her usual direct way, sliced through the Gordian knot (see here) that my life had become and helped me sift through the pieces and try to make some sense of them.

This is in the gardens of Hampton Court Palace (there are some nice pics of the place here).

In this pic, Xinia is seated at the foot of Cleopatra’s Needle (see here) on the Thames Embankment (see here), with Big Ben in the background.

  1. Hi Peter:

Is your wife Xinia such a good writer like yourself? Both of you could write a book which would rival Harry Potter.

Hi, Omar. You’re very kind. Xinia’s specialty is the spoken word, due to her very quick mind.
