A visitor posted a comment about Mark Brown’s wharf and how he was working there when they made a film called Pool of London (1951), starring Bonar Colleano. It must have a lot of great footage of the river but I couldn’t find any trace of a video or a DVD of the movie. In searching for the film, however, I came across these pictures of the Pool of London.
This one is dated 1842.
This one is from 1901.
This painting dates from 1916.
This photo is dated 1936 but seems to be of the south side of the river below Tower Bridge (i.e., technically speaking not within the Pool o f London, between Tower and London Bridge).
This was taken in 1948.
No year for this one but it is a spectacular picture.
